Iran private sector not to have problem in trade exchanges with Iraq: Official

Tehran, IRNA – Head of Iran-Iraq Joint Chamber of Commerce Yahya Al-Eshaq has said the Iranian private sector will have no problem for receiving the money of selling services and products to Iraq.

He made the remarks in a meeting of Iranian business counselors in Iraq with representatives from Iran’s Foreign Ministry in Tehran on Monday.

The official noted that the Iraqi debts to Iran are mainly those related to gas and electricity exports to thag country by Iranian state companies.

Iraq has paid its overdue debts to Iran to the Iraqi TBI Bank and the two countries have agreed that there will no problem for using the money for non-sanctioned reasons such as the purchase of medicine, he said.

Earlier on June 25, Iranian Deputy Oil Minister Majid Chegeni said that “the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity has paid all its gas arrears to Iran and this debt is now zero. But sometimes there are problems to transfer money from TBI Bank to Iran.”
